Maria Nolan
14/02/2022 - 25/02/2022
We welcome Maria Nolan to the Coastline Art Hub exhibition for the next fortnight!
Maria has been a resident of Telegraph Point since 1980, living on a 75 acre bushland property. She has enjoyed drawing as a child and drew cartoon like sketches for her children when they were little. The interest was always there, but not seriously pursued until she was in her 60’s.
Maria commenced her art journey in 2009, initially attending Adult Education workshops in watercolor and drawing. In early 2011,following retirement from her 35 year career as a psychologist, Maria attended two years’ full time TAFE at Kempsey, completing Certificates 3 and 4 in Visual and Fine Art.
Maria’s artwork over the past eleven years has been an ongoing experiment in style, subject and use of mediums. Maria enjoys boldness of line and shape, and often place the human figure in
my compositions.
Maria is an active member of the Hastings Valley Fine Art Association, both as Vice President and editor of the monthly HVFAA newsletter “Fineprint”. Maria has been successful
in winning the awards of Emerging Artist at the HVFAA Summer Showcase (2015), 1st prize in Oil/Acrylic at the Adelaide Swift Memorial Art Prize (2016) and 2nd Prize in the Contemporary Section of the Port Macquarie Art Society Exhibition
(2017), 1st prize Contemporary section in the Port Macquarie Easter Art Exhibition (2018) and 1st Prize in the Adelaide Swift Memorial Art Prize Open section (2018).
