Jill Cairns
23rd November - 4th December
Jill grew up in the Sutherland Shire and loved to colour and draw as a child. She developed a keen interest in the visual arts.
She was accepted into the National Art School for the Graphic Design Diploma and then went on to complete a Diploma of Education which allowed her to teach.
The strength of light, colour, texture and sensitivity in the Australian landscape and waterways have been the catalyst for her subject matter, appropriate medium and mark making.
Jill is now retired from teaching art in schools and lives in Port Macquarie. She has built her own studio to tutor small groups, conduct workshops, travel with like-minded people to paint plein air and develop her practice continually to excite the senses. She is also a member of the Hastings Valley Fine Arts Association where she has received many art awards and she is also an award winning member of the Oatley 101 Art Society Inc.
