Linda Lockyer
29th March- 10th April
Linda Lockyer is an artist who lives on a farm near the township of Walcha. She completed a Diploma in Teaching at Charles Sturt University, Bathurst in 1980, where she majored in Creative Arts.
A member of the New England Art Society and the Hastings Valley Fine Art Association, Linda has had five solo exhibitions in the New England region of NSW and two shared exhibitions at the Long Point Vineyard Gallery at Lake Cathie.
Her first solo exhibition was held in Sydney at Shepherd St Gallery, Chippendale in 2012. Since then, Linda has exhibited in several group exhibitions at the Glasshouse and also at New England Regional Art Museum.
Linda’s work has evolved mainly through her own experimentation with different mediums and techniques. In the past four years, she has developed an individual style which combines the use of acrylic paints with inks. These two mediums are applied to the surface with brushes, spatulas, various types of cloths and sponges and also ink applicators.
The subject matter of Linda’s work varies from landscapes to abstract and also human form combined with these, however her work is mainly abstract in nature. The essence of her painting is the spiritual connection which she has to the Australian landscape and it is expressing this connection, which is the driving force behind her work.
