Photographer Alex McNaught

Alex McNaught has had a deep interest in outdoor landscapes for as long as he can remember. Throughout school, he pursued the highest levels of Geography to study the world’s physical environments formally, while also developing a parallel passion for the visual arts through photography. After school, Alex enrolled at university to major in Geophysics, advancing his technical understanding of the physical world through mathematical, spatial, and quantitative methods, all while continuing to nurture his photographic skills.
In 2017, after relocating to Port Macquarie, Alex decided to establish a full-time photography business specialising in the outdoors. He uses cutting-edge technology and techniques to ensure that every detail is captured in stunning clarity, celebrating the vast, dynamic beauty of nature in all its forms, shapes, and colours.
His extensive portfolio spans a wide range of landscapes - from the coral reefs of the Barrier Reef and the rugged peaks of the Snowy Mountains to the barren deserts and expansive coastlines. His work not only showcases the diverse beauty of Australia but also aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the environment, encouraging its preservation and care for future generations.
Beyond his photography, Alex actively contributes to the conservation of wildlife, regularly donating time and equipment to support whale welfare initiatives, such as assisting with entanglement situations. He also contributes valuable scientific data, including sightings and identifications of the endangered east coast population of Southern Right Whales, furthering his commitment to protecting the natural world.
