Kendall agency closure

Coastline Bank will close its Kendall agency on Friday, 26 June 2026, following a detailed review of customer usage and long‑term sustainability.

The Kendall agency has operated since July 2023, following the departure of Bendigo Bank, and currently serves 94 customers.

As a customer‑owned bank, Coastline Bank said the decision reflects its responsibility to ensure customer funds are used prudently and for the greatest overall benefit.

“This was a difficult decision,” said John Yardley, Chief Executive Officer.

“We understand the Kendall agency is the only banking outlet in town, and we know its closure will be disappointing for some customers and community groups. However, the agency has had very low usage and limited growth, meaning it is not commercially viable to operate long‑term.”

The bank acknowledged the local impact of the closure, including the loss of two jobs and the additional travel required for customers who prefer in‑person banking.

Coastline Bank’s nearest branches in Port Macquarie and Taree, both open six days per week, will continue to provide full in‑branch services, alongside phone and digital banking options.

While the agency will close, Coastline Bank reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to Kendall and the surrounding community.

The bank has agreed to a lease payout through to 2028, ensuring continued support for the Kendall Community Centre beyond the closure date. It will also maintain community investment through its Community Foundation, grants program and local partnerships.

Recognising that some customers and community organisations will need assistance transitioning their banking arrangements, Coastline Bank is developing a support program focused on:

  • Helping customers move confidently to phone and online banking services, or understand services at our Port Macquarie and Taree branches
  • Working closely with local community groups to understand practical needs, including cash handling and deposit options

As part of this process, Coastline Bank will host a meeting in Kendall on 11 May 2026, open to customers and community organisations. It will provide an opportunity for customers and local organisations to hear directly from the bank, ask questions, and help shape post‑closure support.

Customers will receive direct written communication outlining the closure, the reasons for the decision, nearby banking options and details of the upcoming community meeting. Experienced team members will be on hand at the meeting to ensure tailored support is available to all customers.

The Kendall agency will continue operating as usual until 26 June 2026.

Why is the Kendall agency closing?

The Kendall agency will close on Friday, 26 June 2026 and will continue to operate as usual until that date.

Where can I bank in-person after the closure?

The Kendall agency will close on Friday, 26 June 2026 and will continue to operate as usual until that date. Local post offices also have Bank@Post services.

How will community groups manage cash and deposits?

Coastline Bank recognises this is a key concern. The bank will work directly with community organisations to understand their needs and identify practical solutions, including guidance on alternative deposit arrangements. Kendall Post Office offers Bank@Post, which means customers can use their Coastline Bank-encoded Deposit Book to make cash deposits.
