Artist Simon Mark Ferguson

Simon Mark Ferguson’s landscape paintings are inspired by the striking topography of the Macleay and Hastings Shires. He has explored remote corners of the Upper Macleay Valley, where steep rolling hills covered in orange whiskey grass are intersected by rocky rivers and fast-flowing creeks. Along the coast, his seascapes capture the ever-changing moods and contrasts of the ocean, reflecting the unique character of Australia’s vibrant beach lifestyle.

Working primarily in oils, Ferguson draws on the distinctive light and colour of the Australian landscape to create artworks that invite viewers to connect with the beauty of the region. His paintings celebrate the natural world and encourage others to explore the remarkable scenery of the Mid North Coast.

After completing postgraduate studies at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW, Sydney, Ferguson’s work has been exhibited in Sydney, Melbourne, regional centres across Australia, and overseas. He has also been a finalist in numerous local, state, and national art competitions.
