Artist Sandra McArthur

Sandra McArthur has been immersed in the Visual Arts and education fields for over 30 years. A qualified artist, primary school teacher, and art therapist, she brings a wealth of experience to both her practice and her teaching. Sandra has taught children and adults across Sydney, the Central Coast, and now in Crescent Head, nurturing creative confidence and technical skill.

Her artistic repertoire spans drawing with pencils, soft pastels, and oil painting. Influenced by writers such as Hermann Hesse, Proust, and Carl Gustav Jung, and inspired by artists including Jeremy Lipking, Mark Rothko, Alfred Stieglitz, and Bill Viola, Sandra’s work is thoughtful, layered, and emotionally resonant.

Her art explores fleeting moments and inner landscapes through impressionistic forms - whether capturing the essence of the local environment or the emotional depth of her portrait subjects. Sandra’s work has been featured in both solo and group exhibitions and is held in private collections locally and interstate.

Current works can be viewed at Big Wednesday Studio in Crescent Head or online.

Through all her work, Sandra aims to evoke an emotional response - be it peace, curiosity, or a sense of quiet aliveness.
