Artist Alan Weston

Alan Weston is a self-taught artist whose passion for creativity began early and who consistently excelled in art during his school years. As a student, he was often called upon to illustrate lessons, bringing history and social studies to life on classroom blackboards and in textbooks.
After briefly exploring painting in his younger years, life’s responsibilities, running a successful signwriting business and raising a family, took precedence. It wasn’t until his recent retirement that Alan fully returned to his artistic roots, now dedicating his time to painting and regularly exhibiting his work.
Alan’s art celebrates the beauty of Australian landscapes, with a focus on rural scenes and coastal settings. Working across oil, acrylic, and watercolour, he captures the character and atmosphere of the places he knows and loves. While he occasionally painted outdoors in the past, he now primarily works from photographs, allowing him to refine detail and composition in his studio.
Originally based in Moss Vale in the Southern Highlands of NSW, where he exhibited at The Milk Factory Gallery in Bowral, Alan has recently relocated to Port Macquarie. There, he has built a backyard studio and spends his days creating evocative interpretations of local coastal and hinterland scenery.
Alan also welcomes commissions, particularly of meaningful landscapes or favourite personal photographs. While portraiture is not his primary focus, he is open to special requests and enjoys the challenge of capturing a subject’s essence.
