Using your Budget Wise Account: A step-by-step guide

Coastline’s Budget Wise Account is designed take the stress out of paying bills. It spreads your bill payments out evenly throughout the year, ensuring your bills are taken care of when they arrive.
Follow our step-by-step guide to get started.
1. Open Your Budget Wise Account
You can open an account online, over the phone, or by visiting a Coastline branch.
We'll ask you for some personal details and to agree to the terms and conditions.
2. Nominate your bills
Nominate the bills you want to pay using your Budget Wise Account.
You can nominate almost any bill, including loan repayments, insurance premiums, council rates, utility bills, and school fees.
3. We'll calculate your regular deposit
We calculate the total amount of your nominated bills and add a 10% safety margin. This covers any unexpected changes in variable bills, like an electricity bill in winter.
This total is then divided by the number of paydays you have in a year. Budget Wise will work out how much you need to contribute each payday to get your regular deposit amount.
For example:
- If your total nominated bills + 10% margin is $4,500.
- And you’re paid monthly: $4,500 / 12 months.
- Your regular deposit amount is $375 per month.
4: Create your 12-month Deposit Agreement
Like all agreements, you’ll need to read this before signing.
To give you an overview, you'll agree to make payments into your Budget Wise Account, and Coastline will agree to pay your nominated bills on time, using the funds in your Budget Wise Account.
The agreement will also include:
- your nominated bills
- your regular payment amount
- the total amount to be deposited
- a nominated savings account to transfer any leftover funds—at the end of the 12-month agreement.
5. Activate your Budget Wise Account
Activate your account by making your first regular deposit.
Scheduled transfers
Never miss a payment and reduce the temptation to spend by setting up a scheduled transfer.
A scheduled transfer automatically transfers your regular deposit into your Budget Wise account each payday. You can set up or stop a transfer anytime in internet banking.
6. Submit your bills
Present your bills to Coastline at least 7 days before their due dates.
Bills can be presented in person at a branch or emailed to mail@coastline.com.au
Coastline will pay your bills directly from your Budget Wise Account, ensuring they are paid on time.
