Ready to make the switch to Coastline Bank?
Ready to make the switch to Coastline Bank? It's easier than you think!
If you've been with the same bank for years, it’s easy to feel like switching accounts is a hassle - but we’re here to tell you it doesn’t have to be! In fact, making the move to Coastline Bank could be simpler and more rewarding than you think. Whether you're looking for better features, lower fees, or just a more personal banking experience, we’re ready to help you take the next step.
Here’s how the switch works – and how we’ll be with you every step of the way!
Step 1: Let’s open a Coastline Bank account!
Getting started is easy! Simply drop by your nearest Coastline Bank branch, or if it’s more convenient, submit an enquiry online. We’ll walk you through everything and open a new account for you. Once you're part of the Coastline family, we’ll help you move all your recurring payments to your new account, so your banking stays simple and stress-free.
Step 2: Switch your regular payments
The next step is to make sure all your regular payments, like utility bills, loan repayments, and your salary, are set up to come out of your Coastline Bank account. To do this, you'll need to fill out and sign a Switch of Regular Payments Arrangements Form. This will give us permission to contact your old bank and request a list of all the payments you’ve made in the last 13 months. Once we have that list, you can choose which payments to transfer over to your new Coastline account. Don’t worry – we’ll take care of the rest.
Step 3: Finalise the switch
After we’ve identified which payments you’d like to switch, we’ll ask you to sign a Notice of Variation of Account Details Form. This lets us contact the relevant organisations to update your bank details, so you don’t have to. You’ll receive confirmation from each organisation when your banking details are updated – this process can take up to 3 weeks. After that, you’re all set!
Need extra help?
We know that sometimes you want to handle things on your own, and that’s absolutely fine! If you'd rather manage the switch yourself, you can contact each company directly to update your payment details, or log into Internet Banking to set up recurring payments and transfers. But if you’d prefer to have us guide you through the process, just let us know! We're here to make it as simple as possible.
Here are some helpful forms you can use during the process:
- Switch Direct Debit Details Form
- Switch Direct Credit Details Form
- Switch VISA Card Details Form
- Switch Share Dividends Details Form
You can complete these forms and drop them off at your local Coastline Bank branch, or send them via email to accountswitching@coastline.com.au
Don't forget your salary!
One of the first things you'll want to do is update your employer with your new Coastline Bank account details for salary payments. We’ve made it simple with a Salary Transfer Form, which you can submit directly to your employer. They’ll take it from there!
Smart tip: Leave money in your old account
While you're transitioning, it’s a good idea to leave some money in your old account to cover any last payments. This will help ensure you don’t miss any payments or incur any penalty fees during the switch.
Closing your old account
Once your payments have been transferred, you can go ahead and close your old account. Here’s what you’ll need to do before closing:
- Transfer all direct debits and credits to your Coastline Bank account.
- Print out a list of your “pay anyone” and BPAY payments from your old online banking account.
- Notify any merchants or companies of your new debit card or account details.
Once all that’s done, it’s time to ring your old bank and find out what you need to do to officially close your account.
Let’s make the switch easy!
Switching accounts doesn’t have to be difficult. With Coastline Bank, we’ll make the process as easy as 1, 2, 3 – and we’re here to support you the entire way. So, what are you waiting for? Take control of your banking today!
