I am the current Chairperson of Coastline Credit Union and have had the privilege of serving Coastline members as a Director for the past nine years. I am a Lawyer who both owns and operates a legal practice in Kempsey. As a current Director, Employer and resident of the Macleay I understand our community, its people and its values. I am a firm believer that we must support local business and families.

I am an active member of our community and am currently part of the Management Committee of Kempsey Families Inc. During my time at Coastline I have Chaired the Loans Committee and have been on the Audit, Renumeration, Community Foundation and Executive Committees.

I am proud to have been part of all that Coastline has achieved and delivered to our members over the past nine years. Coastline has served its members well through the current pandemic and I am proud to have been part of the experienced and dedicated team that has achieved this. I hope to continue serving as a Director and as your Chair of Coastline Credit Union.

In 1980, I started on the till of a major global bank and have worked my way up through the ranks, as a “traditional” local community bank manager, commercial relationship manager and credit manager. I have spent the last 17 years working for a Mid-North Coast Credit Union as the executive responsible for Credit Risk, Operational Risk and Commercial Banking.

I have worked with most types of businesses such as retail, manufacturing, hospitality, professionals and agribusiness. Listening to local business and people, I enjoyed developing new products and services that they wanted. This included increasing digitalisation and streamlined processes for loans.

Reporting to the Board and Chief Executive, I have chaired the Credit Committee and sat on the Committees for Governance, and Assets/Liabilities. I am a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an Associate of the London Institute of Banking and Finance. I have deep experience in the oversight of strong corporate governance, credit and risk management and strategic planning.

I believe in mutuality and 40-years’ experience tells me that Coastline’s ability to serve its member’s best interests is, ideally, to remain member-owned.
If elected I would work energetically for Coastline’s members and listen to their needs.

I have lived and worked in the Macleay Valley for 28 years. I am a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Accountant, so have both technical experience and financial knowledge to bring to this position.

I am also a small business owner, operating my Financial Planning practice in the Kempsey CBD for the last 8 years. This has given me an appreciation for the challenges of being in business and has also highlighted for me the importance of financial literacy in our communities.

Most importantly, I have a passion for our local community and feel a synergy with the values the Credit Union operates under. I have been an active member of Rotary in Kempsey for over 20 years and have served on the committees of the Macleay Valley Business Chamber and Business Women’s Network as well as the Kempsey Riverside Markets. I believe the combination of this experience at a technical, business and community level gives me a strong range of skills, knowledge and passion to bring to the position of Director.

I have followed the journey of Coastline for many years and am excited to have this opportunity to serve on the Board and contribute to its future direction.
