Clear Temporary Internet Files and Cookies

To clear the Temporary Internet Files and Cookies:

  1. Open Internet Explorer

    Tools Menu
  3. Select "Internet Options"
  4. Open the "General" tab
    General Tab

Browser security settings control the type and level of activity allowed in your browser application.

  2. Open the Tools Menu
    Tools Menu
  3. Select "Internet Options"
  4. Open the "Security" tab

    Tools Menu

Style Settings

Most contemporary browsers allow the user to override the site style sheet with a custom designed set of page styles. Often this is done to improve clarity and legibility for visually impaired users by making fonts larger and forcing text and page colours that contrast more clearly.

To check that the default Style Sheet is selected:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Open the View menu
    View Menu
  3. Select the Style sub-menu and confirm that “Default Style” is enabled.

Background Images Settings

Both Windows XP and Vista provide support for visually impaired users in their accessibility options. While these options are windows settings a number of modern browsers check for these settings and alter their appearance and behaviour accordingly. If background images are turned off in accessibility options, the Icon grid will not be requested or displayed.

To verify if background images are turned off:

Windows XP

  2. Select Accessibility Options
  3. Again select Accessibility Options
    Accessibility Options

  6. Ensure Remove background images is unchecked
